Ontario has finished its Candidate Nomination quota for this year

Earlier the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program had announced that it will issue 6,600 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination in 2018. Candidates across various fields received ITAs, with the majority being Express Entry applicants.

Human Capital Priorities Stream has maximum nominations

6,411 candidates from the OINP’s three Express Entry-linked streams were nominated to apply for Permanent Residency. Express Entry has three main categories:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • Canadian Experience Class

Ontario’s Express Entry-connected streams are:

  • Human Capital Priorities Stream
  • French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
  • Skilled Trades Stream

Candidates, who meet the eligibility criteria, are selected for the above streams from the Express Entry pool.

Out of all the streams, the Human Capital Priorities Stream had the highest number of nominated candidates:  there was a total of 3,534 candidates. This stream also held one of the largest draws in Ontario on August 9. 947 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) were issued to Express Entry candidates with a job offer in Ontario. The CRS scores of the candidates, who were issued an NOI, ranged from 350 to 439.

The Express Entry candidates who received an invitation for OINP received an extra 600 points in their CRS score. This means they will have a good score before the next Federal draw and will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian PR.

OINP says it will keep accepting and considering new and previously submitted applications under the province’s 2019 nomination allocation.
