Canada opens new Visa Application Centres to support Biometrics
What is the Canada Visa Biometrics Program?
Biometrics includes the candidate’s fingerprints and a photo. Biometrics were made mandatory for applicants from Africa, Europe and the Middle East from July 31, 2018.
The Biometrics rule will be made compulsory for applicants from Asia, Asia-Pacific and Americas as well form December 31, 2018.
Biometrics are necessary for any candidate applying for Canadian visitor visa, work or study permit, permanent residence or asylum in Canada.
New Locations of Visa Application Centres
Visa Application Centres provide visa-related services. They are approved by the Canadian Government. On the eve of announcing the Biometrics Rule in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, new VACs were opened in:
- Stockholm in Sweden
- Berlin in Germany
- Tel Aviv in Israel
- Athens in Greece
- Kigali in Rwanda
Canada plans on opening more VACs before biometrics are made mandatory in Asia, Asia-Pacific and Americas
